admittedly sparkle's gun appears to be a toy gun? but still

for the record, the characters having known something all along that the player didnt COULD have been a really fun and effective reveal if handled with finesse, but as it exists in the game, it just felt extremely weird. the game lying to you clumsily and without any real justification.

the twist involving the final secret character was really good tho. loved EVERYTHING about that.

in a lot of other ways paranormasight 2 was fun enough, i don't hate it as a whole, but i truly cannot get over the fact that the biggest twist at the heart of it all comes across as contrived and essentially comes down to "all this for hetereosexuality?"

wondering if i'm truly unhinged enough to be able to channel sparkle's energy and voice tbh but oh well an attempt is being made

also if i say that all the worst parts of this plot were literally all the fault of heterosexuality--

normally i LOVE an achronologically-told story where you see the results of what happened first and only later understand the circumstances behind why, but if you're playing FROM a characters pov and that character seemingly withholds knowledge that you later find out they ALREADY KNEW...feelsbadman

it'd be one thing if they were just being vague with wording, but no, they're straight-up telling lies in their own heads. when in-universe they have no way of knowing i'm in there. the game seemingly tries to chalk it up as the characters just "being good liars" but like. it's hard to swallow imo.

paranormasight 2 is...hm. its biggest sin imo is that the characters have a bad habit of lying when it shouldn't actually be possible. like, i, as the omniscient mind-reading player entity, will literally be reading someone's thoughts and they'll straight up just LIE TO ME. IN THEIR THOUGHTS.

tbh i normally opt for "creator chose not to use warnings" for any bdsm i write that i could see potentially making readers uncomfortable but that was still fully intended as consensual. sparkle herself tho is just a walking noncon warning.

there are only so many bsdm scenarios i can come up with before they start repeating each other unfortunately 😔

realizing belatedly that this entire idea is just cracks in the mask 2.0 😖. oh well don't care doing it again.

it will surprise no one that in the first paranormasight i immediately latched onto the depressed housewife

paranormasight 2 IMMEDIATELY gives off very different vibes than the first one. less supernatural horror thiller mystery and more straight-up adventure game in a small town, hopefully still with some supernatural mystery. nothing inherently wrong with it but the difference in tone is quite striking.

at least one of the paranormasight puzzles gave me whiplash because of how strange it felt to see in a horror vn rather than a classic point n click, tho. like i clocked the solution immediately but the juxtaposition of it against the actual plot scenario made me laugh longer than i should have.

paranormasight 1 good. reminded me a lot of 428 shibuya scramble--not quite as involved or complex in terms of puzzle-solving or plot, but more coherent in how everything got tied up in the end (and in just what role you served as the player). i'm really excited to play the second one now.

havent pulled that trick out since "a pound of flesh" but oh it could work so well here
