The Newborough pines Hooded Crow was busy on the upper shingle between C2 buoy and Ynys Llandywyn this afternoon. Perhaps a hybrid? ... seems to be a rather mottled bird.

Little Auk - Trearddur Bay, Anglesey 26/02/26. Terrific find by John Oates on what was a pretty miserable day weather wise. Pretty rare on west coast, now on WBRC list. Not the easiest conditions for photography, but managed a few images that I was happy with.

Made the most of a dry day on Tuesday and caught up with the drake Bufflehead on Llyn Coron, Anglesey. Great to spend some more time observing this smart North American duck - a first record for the island. It looked quite at home with the local Goosander! #birdingwales #ukbirding #ukrarebirds
I arrived on Anglesey before first light and I was the first person to see this drake Bufflehead this morning, which was quite close in. Amazing pink legs! #ukbirding #birds #birdsseenin2026 #ducks #bufflehead #loveducks @angbirdnews.bsky.social
A small black cow among the wet woodland in Newborough Forest, Anglesey
Great to see cattle introduced to graze recently restructured woodland at @natreswales.bsky.social Newborough. #CowsInTrees will help to maintain wet glades important for several rare plants.
Walked out to Ynys Llanddwyn where 10 Purple Sandpipers clambered on the rocks. @angbirdnews.bsky.social
Distant + pouring with rain, but I think thereβs just enough to i.d this as Angleseyβs second Caspian Gull. Dark tertials, long gangly legs (especially tibia), thin black bill + white rounded head, size. It also showed a nice black tail band + white auxiliaries when it flew #birdingwales #ukbirding
It's the annual Isle of #Anglesey Chough Count on Saturday 14 February π¦ββ¬
If you see any #Chough on Anglesey tomorrow please let me know

I finally got time to try for the Bufflehead at Llyn Coron, Anglesey this morning. The footpath (or should I say river?) was impassable without wellies. I got reasonable views but couldn't keep my scope still enough to get a digi-scope shot. @angbirdnews.bsky.social
Bufflehead - Llyn Coron, Anglesey 09/02/26. Had to drop all plans for the day when Andy Lawrence found a drake Bufflehead at Llyn Coron - presumably the same bird that was at Y Foryd, Caernarfon but which had gone missing. Always a bit distant - but what a new addition for the island.
Nice to Year tick the Welsh Bufflehead this afternoon. An Anglesey tick to boot. Good to catch up with the Anglesey birders who were celebrating a good bird on their patch. βΊοΈπ #birdingwales #ukbirding
Cattle Egret - 5 birds were still on fields with horses off the lane to Sandy Beach, near Llanfwrog, Anglesey 02/02/26. A liitle earlier, I had 8 Greater Scaup at Llyn Llygeirian (3m, 1 1st calendar year m, 3f) with subsequent reports of 5+ & 6 birds since.

Siberian Chiffchaff tristis (putative) at Octel / Amlwch Port water treatment plant this morning 28/01/26. Largely black bill, black legs, strong supercilium, brown ear coverts, green limited to flight feathers. No DNA or sonogram, but many features in its favour. @angbirdnews.bsky.social #ukbirding
Black Redstart - female type at former Octel site, Amlwch Port, Anglesey earlier this afternoon 28/01/26. @angbirdnews.bsky.social #ukbirding
Anyone on Ynys Mon who could help? @angbirdnews.bsky.social
Cattle Egret - 3 on fields off road to Sandy beach, Llanfwrog, Anglesey this morning - 25/01/26. Up to 5 birds present recently - other 2 were probably not too far away. @angbirdnews.bsky.social
@angbirdnews.bsky.social had a walk with my wife in Nant y Pandy from Dingle car park almost to Cefni reservoir. Highlights were: 1 raven, 1 great spotted woodpecker, 1 calling nuthatch and my wife spotted a bird she didn't recognise which turned out to be a redpoll. #WelshBirding

@angbirdnews.bsky.social I popped over to RSPB Cors Ddyga last Sunday with Steve Culley. We dipped on water pipit but had cracking views of the waterfowl on the marsh. Here are a few phone-scope shots of black swans with wigeon, shoveller, teal and pintail.

Black Swan Cors Ddyga
Call in to Cors Ddyga this pm, Black-tailed Godwit in the hundreds, plus the 3 Black Swans that we seem to be following around this autumn. Starling roost looks to be building with several thousand streaming in up valley E of. Llangefni... perhaps in Ceint /Talwnt area? @angbirdnews.bsky.social
