The policy being debated, which I think the mayor is likely to veto, is temporarily adding an extra 30 days notice (60 total) on evictions thru the summer, after which it will revert to existing 30. Seems like an especially small gesture considering the magnitude of what people have been through.

Chief O'Hara is beginning his presentation to the CCPO now. You can watch here: www.youtube.com/live/-UwsSmW...

We passed pause evictions, save lives. Now it’s on Mayor Frey’s Deskβ€” please reach out to his office to support this critical legislation and not to veto it. Call: 612-673-2100

Families will face evictions without adequate time to get funds together for rent.

If you want to see O'Hara have to answer more questions on MPD involvement and response to Metro Surge, he'll be at the Community Commission on Police Oversight meeting tonight at 6pm: lims.minneapolismn.gov/board/agenda...

I know at least one Commissioner has some good questions prepared.

I’ve been notified about another death in ICE custody.

This marks a stunning 40 deaths during the second Trump administration.

This cannot continue. There must be real accountability for ICE and DHS.

Don't know if this adds up.

-$5.2 million on police overtime
-50,000 calls
-1,000 days off cancelled
-500 shift extensions
-9 officers injured
-14 PTSD cases
-strengthened regional partnerships
-deepened community relationships
-0 interventions or cases submitted related to rampaging federal agents

If MPD wasn't intervening in ICE calls, how did they rack up all this overtime? In my reporting on Uptown, there has been very little/slow response times due to MPD being short staffed (including BCR). Even the chief said MPD's presence heightens the energy re: ICE. So where are they?

It was disappointing to hear my colleagues make excuses for why our immigrant neighbors who are struggling to make rent after ICE destroyed their businesses and livelihoods should now be evicted from their homes.

We fought ICE to keep our neighbors here–now let's keep these families in their homes.

St. Paul Council Members HwaJeong Kim, Nelsie Yang and @mollycoleman.bsky.social are leading their City Council to vote today to extend the eviction notice to 60 days in St. Paul as well.

This is a commonsense policy to keep families in their homes as rent assistance is rolled out.

Thank you to everyone who spoke at City Council yesterday in support of increasing the notice for eviction to 60 days to give families an extra month to make rent.

We heard from organizers who have distributed more than $6 million in rent support to keep over 5,000 people in their homes.

Minneapolis residents who pay immigrant neighbors’ rent ask city to delay evictions A council committee voted to temporarily extend eviction notice filings from 30 to 60 days; the full council will vote again.

"Emily Green, who lives in Longfellow, said her neighbors raised $200k in less than a month to help 95 families. She said there is $75k left & 116 people on a waiting list, leaving many families on the brink of losing their homes.

β€œIt should not be on us to take care of the citizens of this city."

Apparently Minnesota police officers are β€œafraid they might get arrested or something worse” if they intervene when ICE agents are doing crimes. Meanwhile they let thousands of unpaid, unarmed Minnesotans go ahead and intervene instead. Their cowardice is breathtaking

Letter from CP Payne to Mayor Frey, reads: February 24, 2026 Dear Mayor Frey, I am writing to again express the desires of community and many of our Council colleagues for the termination of the Zencity Technologies US Inc contract for Community Perception Surveying. Understanding that you, as the Mayor, have the sole authority to terminate these contracts, I am asking that you give notice of termination by the next deadline. The next payment is due on April 1, 2026, meaning that notice of termination would be required by March 1, 2026. During the budget markup process for the 2026 supplemental budget, the City Council passed an amendment and resolution urging the termination of the City’s contract with Zencity Technologies US Inc. Now, as we are understanding the financial impact of operation Metro Surge and the full impact of the overspend of the overtime budget in the Police Department, this would be a fiscally prudent and responsive decision for further budget reductions. It’s not isolated to Minneapolis.

There was an incident involving a pedestrian bridge in Saint Paul with a sign I’m not going to repeat.

It’s not the only incident. Keep a cool head folks. Stay unpredictable.

Minnesota’s economic outlook improves with $3.7 billion near-term surplus, though uncertainty looms Lawmakers got an update on what’s on the horizon for Minnesota’s budget and economy. The forecast is complicated by in-limbo tariffs and impacts of surged federal immigration action.

Time to pass some rent and small business relief at the state level.

Early investments now will help to stabilize and support our economy amidst the uncertainties of the future. Let's get it done @repliishkozlowski.bsky.social and @lindseyportmn.bsky.social
