Sam had just moved in to the cramped room at the top of the Old Quarter Boarding House. Sam stuck a bundle into their pocket, but told no one else what they had found. Each night, the thumping, moaning, and shrieking shook Sam's window. So they left the window open. It made things better...and worse. Something about the haunting had Sam bringing themselves to climax with the crescendo of echoing growns. It was in the first week, walking through the market, that Sam saw the witch. She wore a flowing floral dress. They recognized the ragged tufts of her broom, saw the telltale scuffs of red dust on the sharp heels of her boots. There was a shade of tiredness in her eyes "Long night?"
