I’m pretty sure he’s just neurodivergent
Scholars who aren’t actually at risk of bearing the repercussions of the current sociopolitical landscape are so terrified of the mere specter of censorship that they will end up censoring marginalized scholars more efficiently than the president ever could.
This is very specific but I really hate when I sort of know something and vaguely remember reading it but can’t remember where and can’t find a source so I am incapable of defending my perspective 😩

For a cautionary tale about lawmaking on the emergency docket, look no further than this newest iteration. By today’s order, an evenly divided Court neuters judicial review of grant terminations by sending plaintiffs on a likely futile, multivenue quest for complete relief. Neither party to the case suggested this convoluted procedural outcome, and no prior court has held that the law requires it. But, in the view of the deciding vote, California compels this conclusion. “So only another under-reasoned emergency order undergirds today’s.” Trump v. Boyle, 606 U. S. ___, ___ (2025) (KAGAN, J., dissenting from grant of application for stay) (slip op., at 2). The Court also lobs this grenade without evaluating Congress’s intent or the profound legal and practical consequences of this ruling. Stated simply: With potentially life-saving scientific advancements on the line, the Court turns a nearly century-old statute aimed at remedying unreasoned agency decisionmaking into a gauntlet rather than a refuge. But we have no business erecting a novel jurisdictional barrier to judicial review— especially when it appears nowhere in the relevant statutes and makes little sense. Because the Government’s application should have been denied in full, I respectfully dissent in part.

There are affinity support offices for veterans and religious students but not for LGBTQ students, students of color, or women.

BREAKING: The Supreme Court just allowed Trump to remove three Democratic members of the Consumer Product Safety Commission.
The commission helps protect consumers from dangerous products.
Trump fired the three Dems on the five-member commission in the middle of 7 year terms.
GlobalX is a charter airline that operates more than half the ICE deportation flights.
At the same time the company flies Duke and UConn basketball, other NCAA teams, and pro clubs like Inter Miami and Lionel Messi.

Providing bridge funding for canceled NSF grants:
1) directs funds to projects already screened by a top-noch review process.
2) avoids imposing proposal prep costs on researchers.
3) ameliorates the disruption from GOP sabotage.
The Indian Health Service was established to fulfill the fed gov’s treaty responsibilities to provide health care to Native communities.
It is already funded at HALF of its actual need, & Trump’s budget would cut IHS by $900 million.

IMO now is the time to ramp up pressure on your reps, union leaders, professional agencies, etc. getting in bed with hate is a losing strategy and this moment is an opportunity
Spoiler: yes. Let’s be honest though, it’s not just the future, it’s the reality and the history of academia for marginalized scholars. This isn’t new, but it is ramping up. And we need to fight to protect a semblance of free scholarship now.
That’s why it’s also so important to keep sharing- when I see others talking, advocating, fighting, telling their story, organizing, it reinforces for me what I need to be doing. It calls me to my strongest self. It reminds me we’re not alone. It reminds me what we’re not gonna tolerate.
