QMUL's poster removal: Management threatens staff with disciplinary action over posters and stickers No clarity is given about what is deemed antisemitic Management reduces all Jewish colleagues to one position Possible precedent of repression & censorship .Management refuses to engage meaningfully Management repeats the same statement they issued in February 2024 when they broke into the union office Management claims this is an established policy though they escalate from previous practice
Colleagues were interviewed on BBC Radio 4 about @qmul.bsky.social's sudden escalation in taking down posters & threatening disciplinary action.
It is a great explanation of what's happening & its dangers.

Breaking news – Redundancy notice (Section 188) removed
The University of Dundee has confirmed that the section 188 letter issued in March 2025 has been formally withdrawn! This is a direct result of the industrial action we took and the action we threatened.
This is our victory! 1/3
Beyond busy with amazing @bcu-ucu.bsky.social as we fight a 340+ attack on jobs & ongoing dispute over performance management against a backdrop of suddenly imposed workload-increasing policy changes at same time as shrinking teams with over 200 "silent redundancies" through MARS.
Our ballot results are in!
-63% of members voted
-84% of voting members said YES to action short of strike
-72% of voting members said YES to strike action
Which means our call for industrial action has passed and we have a mandate to fight back!
39 lecturers at Liverpool Hope face redundancy.
“This will devastate our community, the university’s reputation, and the local economy.” Roberto Catello, branch secretary.

Bizarre statement @ucu.org.uk.
For 6️⃣ years you refused to work with us to end #HostileEnvironment policy in UK HE. As this policy extend to other areas, instead, you capitulate to the very neoliberal, marketised dynamics that harms migrant students & all staff alike.

Also an excuse to re-share @pmdfoster.bsky.social’s brilliant piece which takes Essex as a case through which to discuss the transformation of #UKHE: built in the 1960s to transform the region and society, and now transformed beyond recognition through marketisation and governmental neglect.
