I made the mistake of saying, out loud, that this week was going to be the first "normal" week on the schedule for the last couple of months. One day I'll learn.

I have A Mystery! I got an interesting piece of mail with a sticker with several polygons (looking like a set of gaming dice) and a bit of cardstock that I can fold into a D20. No note, no name on the return address, which is a campus apartment for Central WA University. I am intrigued!
Congratulations!!
She slid a note across the counter to the tailor, refusing to make eye contact. Would they refuse her order?
The tailor unfolded the paper, raising an eyebrow before nodding. "I see. What kind of pockets?"
She looked up, eyes bright with longing. "All of them."
I trembled as I opened the door, sure something terrible hid in the old craft room. Another curse rang through the air as the creature came into focus. I squinted at the long, curling strands emanating around the spirit.
"How did I lose a stitch on that row? I counted three times!"
Who me, hyperfixate on last night's half time show? Bah! Also, read this thread, it's fabulous and talks about a lot of the little details those of us not from PR missed.
heads up to the american news media: I do not care what racists thought of the super bowl halftime show
As I set dessert in front of the judges, I hum a few bars, and the fiddle-shaped cake turns red and begins to hiss. It was supposed to turn gold & play Johnny's part, but I think I used the wrong kind of cocoa powder in the devil's food cake.
Oh, dear.

This is Miss Daisy Mae, who we lost suddenly last year. She was me in cat form and decidedly my cat - full of anxiety and always one to give love, with a high EQ and an impeccable sense of when someone might need a cat. I miss her mightily.
3! That would be marvelous.

Ways in which my autism is unexpectedly helpful: walking my mother through connecting her new Bluetooth headphones to her phone after they were connected to her computer. Naturally breaking things down step by step is really useful for that kind of thing, and also, oof, I'm tired. #techsupport
Continuing the Great Discworld Re-Read, here's my post about The Light Fantastic and Equal Rites. insertscenehere.blogspot.com/2025/09/grea...
A white and brown tabby cat lies on his side on an open laptop, fast asleep with his mouth slightly open
QWERTY is sleeping the sleep of the kitty who has only gotten 15 hours of sleep today, and is utterly exhausted.
Because I apparently forgot earlier today, I'm asking all of you - did you remember to take your meds?

It's been ten years since we lost Sir Terry Pratchett (GNU) and the last of the Discworld books, The Shepherd's Crown, was published. It's time for a Discworld re-read that will end with finally reading the last Discworld book. insertscenehere.blogspot.com/2025/09/grea...
Well now I know what my next goal/reward will be. If I ever get something accepted for publication, I want a basket of snacks.
It's been a minute, but the Infinite Library is back! I've read through chapter 2 - you can hear all the videos through the playlist here: youtube.com/playlist?lis...

I saw that the summer before my senior year (the year you write your thesis at my school), and I made a point of telling every other senior and junior about it. It was 2003, and I ended up backing up on disc, CD, paper, sent a copy to my mother, kept a hard copy in the fridge...
When it's been less than a week since the last WorldCon ended and the next WorldCon already has to make a statement of apology, it's not looking so good for the convention scene.
2/2 The writer has gotten everything approved & printed & lost everything in a house fire, including all notes, drafts, EVERYTHING. They wrote a summary of a year's worth of work from memory & notes from their advisor. Back it up! Multiple times, places, formats! #psa
