i have a second one that’s heavier on the cinnamon, with cardamom, clove, sage, violets, and a negligible amount of mugwort. the picture does not show at all how seductively red the whole thing is from the hibiscus.
second round of making my own occult perfumes and spiritual colognes. this one is loosely based on florida water with its orange peel, lemon, lime, rosemary, lavender, and roses. where it differs is in the ratios as well as the addition of copal resin, hibiscus, red raspberry leaf, hawthorn berries
the author clearly has a lot to say about m/f relationships, and none of it is a particularly fresh take. it’s a bit on the nose. but again, i enjoyed it. just look out for it when you read it and tell me what you think

she finds his passion and attentions thrilling, and in a way reminiscent of what dracula had done to her. replaying her death and abandonment over and over. it’s a little on the nose but some of her lines are darkly beautiful.
those complaints aside i’ve enjoyed it a lot. there’s an intriguing character called “the lover” a french vampire who is i love with a serial killer. she sees herself as a savior of other women. if the serial killer is only killing her he’s not killing anyone else,
i’m almost finished “Lucy Undying “ a new spin on dracula. a “what if lucy and dracula didn’t die, what if lucy was gay” i’m enjoying it a lot but i feel like dracula in this is a kind of misandrist everyman-strawman character. the author adds in a gay couple to make up for it.
