We had fun with stickers, children's books, new knowledge, and discussion.
Today is my bonus birthday. I woke up 21 years ago on this date with a blood clot traveling in my left leg. It eventually got stuck in my knee.. I should have died of DVT that day, but Godβs grace allowed me more time β€οΈ

10. Plan Your Exit
Know how youβre getting home. Discuss your exit plan BEFORE going into the streets to protest. No one should know your plan outside the people you trust.
All Power to the People βπΎπ€
9. Stay Peaceful but be Strategic!
Know the protestβs goals and the organizerβs message. Be intentional with your presence β chants, signs, and action should align with the protestβs purpose. This moment is bigger than you realize.
8. Document, but Carefully!
If you film or take photos, be mindful not to expose faces or identities of attendees unless you have consent. Cover protestorsβ faces in posts when possible to protect their safety. #protestbasics
7. Be Aware of Your Surroundings
Your head needs to stay on a swivel. Know where the exits are, remember landmarks, and always expect potential dangers. Stay ready so you don't have to get ready.
6. Stay in Groups
Thereβs safety in numbers! Stick with those you trust, and make a plan for what to do if you get separated. #nokings
5. Write Down Emergency Contacts
In case your phone is taken or disabled, have important phone numbers written on your body or a card β including a lawyerβs number if possible. #protest
4. Leave No Digital Trail
Turn off Face/Touch ID and location services. Don't post pictures and selfies in real time. Focus on the space and the message, not the number of likes for a post. #nokings
3. Bring Essentials
Pack light but smart:
* Water (stay hydrated!)
* Snacks
* A portable phone charger
* ID (optional β weigh risks)
* Cash (cards might not work in emergencies)
* A small first aid kit
* Goggles/sunglasses and face coverings in case of tear gas #nokings
2. Dress Appropriately
Wear comfortable, non-identifiable clothing (avoid logos or anything that can be used to identify you). Closed-toe shoes are essential. Consider layers, & bring a mask/face covering for protection from surveillance & potential irritants. If you have long hair, put it in a bun.
10 helpful tips for anyone attending a protest, whether itβs today it any other day during this time of unjust.

1. Know Your Rights
Research your legal rights around protesting in your area. Familiarize yourself with what police can and cannot do, and what your rights are if detained.
