"James said he was inspired to have the dialogue in his game in Gaelic after playing a small indie horror game called Sauna 2000, which uses the Finnish language and tasks players with heating a sauna." - this is also very @secretsleepoversociety.com coded!

It didn't exactly work well when they did this before and split it in two with Jeremy Heywood as Cabinet Secretary and Bob Kerslake as Head of the Civil Service.

Though, must say that given English is a left-to-right language I expected the train to go that way. It going in the opposite direction feels like it’s going backwards, which I’m not sure is a subliminal message the BTP would like to give out.

Very cool.

It was an abstract-ish landscape so I was very much in an β€œoh it’s probably meant to be hung that way, maybe my eyes/the catalogue are wrong” sort of mindset as it did sort of look ok the other way up.

I felt a very odd mix of anxiety/guilt when I went to point out one of these mis-hangings to one of your assistants last time.

I assume it's a function of a weird spread of followings/followers that puts my coordinates here rather than a great affinity with the FPL folk on Bluesky.

I have somehow ended up in the "Fantasy Premier League Community" cluster… which its very funny given that as very much a non-footballer/fan for many years I resisted the requests of my boss to join the work FPL group and make pics based solely on the stats.

Yes that’s hardly the biggest issue at play here, but still…

The sartorial choices here are rather questionable.

Cameron and Brown too.

Cameron for foolishly thinking he could win a referendum on EU membership.

Brown for not having a snap 2007 election, might still not have won the subsequent 2012 election but would have stopped Osborne from aborting the nascent recovery from the GFC.

I think that’s because β€œMandygate” just sounds completely bizarre.

A chart showing how ludicrous the poll results are once the sample size and confidence intervals are taking into account.

I don't know what possessed me to make this, but I did..

This is specifically to avoid problems in how Excel stores dates behind the scenes which doesn’t conform to agreed standards like POSIX or ISO 8601 (and predecessors). And which until recently used different start points on Windows (1st Jan 1900) and Mac (1st Jan 1904).

Even given the relatively low statistical literacy of most politics reporters, a sample of 143 should surely be treated as junk.

Surely it’s forecast to be the worst growth. Second worst change in living standards but negative change is decline not growth, so the smallest increase is surely the worst growth.

Then again, maybe they're thinking if you burn all the Venezuelan oil at once the climate superheats and accelerates Greenland's glacial melt so you'll no longer need to worry about the permafrost breaking your drills.

Same with Greenland and rare earths. Sure there might be a lot there, but it's not like they're just sitting there in a big warehouse waiting to be sold. It's tricky enough extracting them in temperate and tropical climates… let alone literal arctic conditions.

Discovered this on CRAN the other day, I was having an issue with the original {yaml} R package's approach to multi-line strings, so was glad to find this and that it parsed the YAML files as expected. Thanks for developing it.

This one is 7 years old now and very much on its last legs. Though on the upside it’s too old to be eligible for the latest iOS upgrade so I don’t have to suffer the new liquid glass UI.

Yeah. Something janky in WebKit I suspect, since all browsers on iOS have to use the Apple/Safari engine.

This is also probably yet another sign that I need to get a new phone πŸ™ƒ

Oddly, in both Safari and Firefox on my Mac when using the responsive design mode to simulate the device size of the iPhone it displays like your screenshot.

Seems like an issue with the survey theme stylesheet. I hooked up my iPhone to my MacBook to get the live web inspector and it seems the media query in the stylesheet is being ignored. Firefox on iOS also had the same issue (which isn't surprising as everything on iOS is all webkit)

Maybe it’s just me, but FYI the margins/padding on mobile make it almost unusable (iPhone XS, iOS 18 Safari if it’s useful)

Aha. I’d just never seen it before in an R workflow so wasn’t sure what its purpose was but if it’s getting used like .Renviron then no harm in adding it.

19.12.2025 12:57 πŸ‘ 2 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 0 πŸ“Œ 0

Ahh. That’s handy. Yes this is along the lines I was thinking of also handy that it adds in some renv ignores too.
