There was some New Yorker employee on NPR yesterday marveling at how much of a policy flip-flop this Iran war thing was for the Trump admin and this was one of the rare occasions I actually shouted at the radio “maybe if you haven’t been paying attention?!?!”
Hate to say this was the obvious outcome, but…

It’s difficult to get an entity that is tasked with “avoiding risk” for a municipality to take some fucking risk for the greater good. Not blaming them, but it goes to show how those with actual power are not generally willing to use it to fight fascism because it puts them in the spotlight.
While I appreciate the Select Board going through the motions here I do not believe they will ultimately come up with anything bold enough to actually intervene in cases where DHS is causing harm to people in the borders of our town or slow DHS down.
Someone who is running for Swampscott Select Board recently said in a meeting: “Maybe we can look to Marblehead for model guidance on financial management on…” and the room quickly and loudly noted that was a bad idea.
And yet the residents keep trying to dismantle their community development and planning department.

Screenshot of a Facebook post. Showing lots of images trying to debunk claims that children have died at a school in Iran.
A little wild that the attempted debunkings coming out of Israel about children being killed in Iran are simultaneously claiming Iran is making everything up and they are using kids as human shields on purpose.

Feels like we would have gotten less war under a Hillary or Kamala administration, tbh.
We, uh, already have the extra detention centers ready to go for them…so thanks ICE for buying your own jails I guess.
Next month: OpenAI powered drones have erroneously attacked US residential areas at an alarming rate…
Seems relevant:

Also, please don’t entrust OpenAI with your personal health data.
Prime example of news outlets wanting to “analyze the politics” of an issue for clicks instead of analyze what actual research and people affected by the issue say about it.
Here’s a look at the claim specifically regarding housing in Swampscott:

I really want those who think PE is the root of all housing unaffordability to engage with what policy would prevent PE from owning housing and the effects that would actually have on housing prices with no other interventions.
Fun thing to say, but in housing PE is a symptom, not the cause. So yes, by all means, get PE out of housing…by actually allowing smaller businesses to own and operate multifamily housing.
As the guy who wrote the book on zoning abolition, I'd like to go on record as saying: if you can use zoning to stop the concentration camps, fucking go for it.
Spent 6 years in startup land. The sleep deprivation thing was always a status performance, not a reality. The actual founders I knew who were building something real were fiercely protective of their focus. The ones bragging about 4am Slack messages were usually the ones shipping nothing.

You know what actual alleviates a PCP shortage? Hiring more at wages on par with specialists (which a whole complicated healthcare system billing thing starting with the AMA).
Anyway, it’s going to be real disappointing after however many years of hyped “AI is going to solve X” articles that none of that ends up true and was never the thing AI was being deployed to solve anyway.
Screenshot of a skeet from NBC Boston that isn’t worth just quoting. NBC10 Boston @nbcboston.com • 8m Could artificial intelligence be the answer to the primary care shortage impacting so many people in Massachusetts? A new Al-powered platform aims to bridge that gap, promising faster and more accessible access to care.
This is such stupid framing. Care connect is a virtual care platform aka telehealth with real doctors. AI is not a significant part of the platform nor is it “solving” the shortage of PCPs.

Screenshot of article: “Concerns remain about the building's height and density, particularly the four-story structure. Consultants said they are working to break up the building's massing with rooflines and architectural details to reduce its visual impact.”
Fun fact: doing this increases the cost of the overall building construction and therefore makes the whole thing less affordable.

Someone was asking what the construction relating to the circled commercial structures in Vinnin Square was.
