Iβd love an EV. Unfortunately not fortunate enough to have my own driveway for a charging point. Bicycle it is.

Reminds meβ¦it was Randy Thom or somebody who said βa mix is finished when thereβs nothing left to take outβ

The photo shows an Avid-brand audio mixing console with a computer on a desk behind. The photographer appears in a selfie at top right.
Iβm teaching on the S6 later this week, and was just checking that the valves all work and the rubber bands have some zing. Itβs a useful beast, albeit with a few quirks.
Indeed. This specific issue is one I encounter each day on my commute past a few of these bus stops! The advertising board itself is ok, but a gap at the bottom would really help, particularly when the bus stop is by a shared pathway or floating next to a cycle lane.
Can I please suggest advertising bulkheads that donβt go all the way to the ground? With those βislandβ bus stops, an approaching, cautious cycle lane rider canβt see the feet of anyone standing waiting behind the sign inside the bus shelter who might be about to step out unawares.
A close-up photo of the main and standby LED lamp installation at the top of a lighthouse in Dorset, UK.
The lamp, Portland Bill lighthouse, Dorset. After viewing the previous, massive Fresnel lens on display in the lighthouseβs museum, this little 300W LED bulb setup (main and standby) looks a bit anti-climactic. Progress though, I guess.
Their music could be totally thrilling or leave me cold, but the group dynamic was always enthralling.

I bet this will be great! @emorwee is, age aside, a true veteran of these wars!
Presumably in use by the Telegraph itself for some time now.
A picture of a book entitled Seeds of Contemplation by Thomas Merton.
Good quote. Peruses bookshelfβ¦not got any new contemplations.
All this "it's easy...just make the BBC less biased, less crap, etc." is all very well, but who's the arbiter of that, in the socio-political climate we're in?
If the answer is ultimately "the market" then we may as well just give up now.
Yes, if their manifesto combines high-interest cash loans with DIY on old houses. Might be some potential there.
I would have thought being a denier is a prerequisite for the job!
Small Prophets on #BBC is a very fine show, from the pen of the enormously talented McKenzie Crook. Hats off to all you clever production people here, too.
I wonder what aspects of today weβll look back on with contrived nostalgia, decades from now? And if there is something, can we all agree now that actually that thing is a bit rubbish and wonβt be worth invoking memory of in 2076?
Ah, cursesβ¦thatβs not how βthe good old daysβ works.
I read this fact as a kid (many moons ago) and always keep it filed away in case of a pub quiz.
I think youβre allowed to test your eyesight while driving, though.
A close up of a broadcast sound desk, in which several video displays and a sound level meter are visible.
While others may reach for a mastering plug-in during post, my student today mixed a live TEDx broadcast event at #mediabmth and got his loudness into a nice groove, seemingly effortlessly. Small details. #audioproduction
I occasionally wear a hat, ride a bicycle, eat tofu, like a good LTN, and donβt feel compelled to disagree with all of George (particularly on Middle East stuff). But if heβs appearing on mainstream news telly then times must be especially grim.
This is one of my favorite optical illusions, because even when you know specifically HOW IT WORKS, it's still hard to make your brain believe it.
The image below is real-world video, but you're being tricked into believing it's an elaborate miniature by the DIORAMA EFFECT.
Let's talk about it.
Oooh look Gromit!!
Coming from a long line of queuers myself, I get this, and Iβm an immigrant here. The reluctance to be seen as βbarging inβ is a strong fear, I guess. And no-one wants to feel ignored while crowding up at the bar to order. Odd things, humans.

Seven Dials on Netflix. Felt a bit disappointed that it wasn't Uncle Quentin sitting in the front carriage.
Well said indeed.
Generations apart, but as someone who grew up in Tasmania, inspired by [then] Greens stalwart Bob Brown, this hits some good chords.
In case you for some reason need a bit of good news this week, India--largest country on earth--seems to be taking a decisive turn toward solar energy

When I was a kid we had a Storyteller tape with this story on it, and here it is:

Well, there's a good bit of solar there, too.
