Understandably, heβs brought the fucking fight every day
*whispers* Ben Bowman is going to become a problem in the next 2-4 years if he isnβt already, and not the fun kind of problem
He seems only interested in defining things by what they are not and that IMO is a not-insignificant reason why his every public statement feels so hollow
Someone needs to ask him a) how he thinks regional economics work and b) when he thinks Portland last had a vibrant economy (and why)
Never seen anyone repel follow-up questions like him
Hard agree. Those scenarios are also the very few times when Ryan allows someone other than the cool customer with the cutting turn of phrase to appear on-screen. Makes the series all the better for it
The first season of the doc was rife with subtext about how actually caring about the the sports franchise you own was ***complete fucking torture*** and someone involved in production clearly recognized this, which is why IMO subsequent seasons have felt sanded down
By Monday, Keizer residents will be subject to a sharp increase on water bills for more police and fewer city services, while losing park land to an all-but-privatized outbuilding, all passed by a council specializing in ethics violations & conflicts of interest. No city hates its residents more.
While this is all going on, Keizer City Council is rubber-stamping a $900,000 pavilion in the cityβs largest park that the Keizer Chamber of Commerce will be able to use for free. Keizer City Councilor Shaney Starr was the interim exec director of the Keizer Chamber; sheβs moved that project fwd.
With some inside info: This increase will be at least 25 percent of the existing fee, probably more like 50 percent, and councilβs gonna rubber-stamp it.
Any purported gaps in finding will come out of the city admin side, which means job losses. Up to 25% of non-police staff in danger of layoffs.
Speaking of spiteful actions against Keizer residentsβ¦
Keizer City Council is holding a SATURDAY work session (to discourage attendance) about a new levy attached to residentsβ water bills to fund Keizer PD, which is already >53% of the cityβs entire budget.

Turns out lawlessness is not a winning strategy. See you at Nuremberg 2.0
Chicken bake!
Er, checking in!
Thank you for this whole thread β really sorry to read this, though I donβt have any recs β but I wanted to reply to this post specifically because I do not love how hostile Portland (and tbh most cities in Oregon) are becoming for kids. People are so quick to tear kid-centered initiatives apart!!
Love this idea! Cut Lloyd Blvd. off at 1st Ave., cut Interstate for cars off at Larrabee Ave. and bike/ped/bus everything west and south of the RQ. Would be a massive win + paradigm shift
The current governor of Montana was in attendance for my baptism.
David Brock Smith has terrible ideas and might struggle to win this primary but he sees what Trump did for Lori Chavez-DeRemer and Daniel Bonham and he wants in on the grift
Beats walking out for 10 straight workdays in the next long session
Does he get more votes than Jo Rae Perkins
no
Peter Courtneyβs spirit infects all Oregon Dems in leadership positions like Horcruxes
banner year for a certain class of Portland politicos to respond to the rise of Latino/a leadership by completely showing their asses www.oregonlive.com/politics/202...

Same woman who (incorrectly) said that βdivideβ is the root word of βdiversityβ during a council meeting
And sheβs not even the most vindictive or spiteful one in the group
That is surprising, slightly less so if one of those pictures is a block of sans-serif text or a devotional with a misspelling
How many of her pics feature her company/logo prominently and is it all of them
My former Keizer City Council colleague has to pay an ethics violation fine for rattling off her police and sheriffβs department friends while being investigated for criminal conduct
My official statement is as follows:

For my Oregon folks, a piece of VERY good news amid the hellstorm of the short session: There is a plan to keep Abiqua Falls public.
Celebrate all the wins while we fight for our freedom.

Hard agree.
Havenβt seen Jack nearly as much as Kelly; heβs definitely a little thinner but not like this (and he didnβt get the tabloid hits Kelly and Sharon got)
Shoutout to the girl β she couldnβt have been older than 20 β working furiously behind the Subway counter, alone, with an eight-customer line plus delivery orders backing up
Multiple diners told her βYouβre doing greatβ after picking up their orders
The fast food workers are not doing well, yβall
