Donald Trump’s mental decline has gotten worse.
Why is the media only barely starting to report on it?
And why won’t they ask who’s really making the decisions in the White House? https://youtu.be/NQHLciC67V8?si=uoJIQXi5JIEJvac-
This week marks the second DSA and Platform Regulation conference in Amsterdam, where participants will revisit the Digital Services Act (DSA) two years after it entered full effect across the European Union. Senior editor Ramsha Jahangir spoke to the organizers: www.techpolicy.press/the-digital-...
The European Commission has preliminarily found TikTok in breach of the Digital Services Act over its addictive design. TikTok says it will challenge the findings, but it’s a massive test for the Digital Services Act, with potential implications for all platforms, writes Chris Stokel-Walker.
The Washington Post laid off one-third of its staff, despite being owned by the fourth-richest man on the planet.
Billionaire control of the media is a threat to the free press.
According to the Austrian DPA, Microsoft US serves as the data controller when cookies are set on a minor’s device via Microsoft 365 Education. Under these circumstances, the DPA was competent to enforce GDPR against Microsoft US.

Groetjes vanuit Gerechtshof Amsterdam.
Evelyn ping us on further developments ;)
Hoop in donkere tijden: Evelyn schreef hier het onderstaand stuk over dat eerder verscheen als voorwoord in onze tweewekelijkse nieuwsbrief.

Sovereignty is not only about building European chips, clouds, or AI models, it is also about ensuring that EU law can be effectively applied and enforced – including against powerful non-EU companies.
A new Declaration for European Digital Sovereignty, signed by all EU Member States, seeks to boost Europe’s technological capabilities.
MICHAL CZERNIAWSKI welcomes this step but warns that the Declaration remains silent on effective enforcement and human rights.

I can't use reply to this post, which may be some setting by the original post from @mmasnick.bsky.social
I generally like his writing, not always agree, but he is such great source for the field. In this case, I do hope that people also read other commentary.
@ec.europa.eu's enforcement decision against X under the #DSA and its acceptance of TikTok's binding commitments to improve ad transparency are good news for consumers.
Here's why 👇
Either real-time bidding data or app SDK data is being bought and used by ICE to seize people from the streets. If you didn’t believe that the adtech stack is a human rights concern, I’m not sure what more evidence you need. www.404media.co/ice-to-buy-t...
No GPC nor other signals on the (that) table
A reality check taking place next week with most big tech and no academics, with leading pro-business questions, and arguments on loss of data when consent is not given (most data is collected upon rejection/withdrawal). What could go wrong😅 @robin.berjon.com

Can anyone with access to this @euractiv.com article www.euractiv.com/section/tech... or to the EC's meeting tell me what the agenda is and if they're including GPC in the discussions?
The DMA has a provision that allows end-users to consent individually to anticompetitive behaviour, using a GDPR-style popup. It's nonsense.
When we brought the problem to @aschwab.bsky.social he said it would be fine because it would be stringently enforced.
Where's that enforcement?
