I was born just after Roe, but my birth mother’s story has all the hallmarks of the Baby Scoop: shame, stigma, coercion, secrecy. I found her when I was 39. That was when I learned about the way birth mothers were treated during this era. It’s when I turned decisively against infant #adoption.

we hiked a few miles down the beach in point reyes to go tide pooling today and it was amazing but then a kid came up to me and pointed out this elephant seal just down the beach. it was so cute and just lounging on the beach completely unbothered.
