Weβre especially eager to add to our departmentβs diversity: women, persons of color, LGBTQ+, persons with disabilities are encouraged to apply. @aeacswep.bsky.social @aeacsmgep.bsky.social @aeacsqiep.bsky.social
And of course weβre in Boston, an amazing cosmopolitan city (youβre likely familiar with it!). And weβre on a beautiful campus thatβs abutted by two T lines and has easy parking, plus D-1 sports and a great arts scene. 7/x
And the econ PoP role is especially great, as weβre paid like tenure-track faculty and not looked at like second-class citizens. We are actively involved in the life of the department: thesis advising, academic advising, undergrad research supervision, etc. 6/x
BC is a great place to be a PoP, as most other departments have similar positions, so itβs easy to find like-minded collaborators and friends for team teaching (like our core renewal classes), guest lectures, pursuing research ideas, or just socializing. 5/x

If youβre not familiar with the idea of a Professor of the Practice, itβs a non-tenured, contract position (most likely for 3 years at a time), but the assumption is that youβll be renewed and get to stay with us for the long haul β if we do our hiring well, anyway! 4/x
I love my job: I get to focus on teaching our awesome undergrads who really do want to be βmen and women for others,β and get them excited about research and public policy, but I also have a reasonable teaching load where I can teach what I want. 3/x
Boston Collegeβs Economics Department is hiring another Professor of the Practice (PoP), focusing on folks who teach undergrad Econometrics, Statistics, and a great elective (of their choosing). 2/x

Hey #econsky: are you a researcher who secretly prefers your side teaching gig? Or is tenure looking like a reach because you βteach too muchβ? Or a liberal arts prof whoβd prefer a big city with a larger pool of impressive, thoughtful students? Come be a Boston College PoP! 1/x
