so as it turns out
AI has ruined preservation too
because guess what all of those servers need that's unaffordable now
that's right, storage!
There are two Goemon RPGs for Game Boy Color that have never been translated. I created tools that will be useful for translating these games (if anyone is ever interested in doing so). You can read more about it here:

It’s the biggest haul of Nintendo lost media, so it’s definitely worth the attention. There are even first party games that are left unpreserved, which is a pretty big deal for 90s Nintendo enthusiasts.
If you could help me with a tip on how to solve the wind maze in the final dungeon, it would be super appreciated ✌️
While I am reporting stuff, the biggest visual glitch was probably in the town with the festival.
Whenever you raised a flag in the minigame or there is a map transition, it would be longer than usual and the player character and glitched sprites turn up in random positions.
Is it intended that you can’t choose items nor do the charge up attack in the final dungeon? The game offered no explanation as of why those upgrades are taken from the player if I recall right.
Another bigger bug I found: in the stairs room before the wind maze in the final dungeon, the exit door does not work.
That being said, do you have a hint how to solve the wind maze? The game doesn’t seem to give one and there’s no longplay up to that point in the internet 😬
Thank you, looking forward to your thoughts on it! Hope you can at least activate one friend to play it with, because it’s most fun in multiplayer. 🤙
(Same for Actraiser 2. They probably deemed these three too old to make a stripped down demo worthwhile. But they did one for Tenchi Souzou.
Actraiser 1 and Soul Blazer however didn’t need any changed to fit on 8Ms, so they simply put them out as-is but with limited startups.)
Oh neat, with that we should have all Satellaview versions of Quintet‘s Super Famicom games preserved!
(Gaia Gensouki and Slapstick didn’t get broadcast demos from as far as I know.)
(With that I don’t mean the govt should keep it - but logically it should go back to consumers, not the corporations.)
Uhh the consumers paid the resulted markup, no?
Really interested in what you are up to 👀
If they stopped pushing AI it would do way more for the environment.
A Super Famicom fairytale awaits:

Looking over Nintendo Power's Top 100 Games of All Time, a feature they published back in 1997. Here are some facts ...
48% of the games are available on Nintendo Switch Online
23 of the 52 games not on NSO are available on Switch via compilations
29% are not available on the Switch in any form.

Just noting a pretty funny visual bug I encountered: In the goldmine the whole water turns into lava when destroying a certain rock, which was probably intended to be the other way around, since you can (and need to) still swim in it.
Today we have an amazing interview from 1989 with Shigeru Miyamoto and Shigesato Itoi. Conducted shortly after the release of Mother, it's full of deep musings about realism, creative exhaustion, the moral panic over kids & gaming, and prescient visions of the future. shmuplations.com/itoimiyamoto/
Oh, I remember these! There’s an English version too that used to be common-ish on eBay around 2010.

Today's "I didn't know this existed" is the Super Famicom Bodyguard (スーパーファミコン ボディーガード), a cozy sleeping bag for your SNES with little holes for the controllers. Probably overheats like a motherfucker in summer. Well worth the $200-800 they're asking buyee.jp/mercari/item...

I hope someday the existing file creator for these gets expanded, currently it can only output Latin script for game titles in the menu, which is a shame.
I like the generally really fluid gameplay and how much the game respects the players time though, i.e. by locking up locations that have nothing more to offer. The presentation (putting visual glitches aside) is also top notch. Great work!
Having a blast so far and the fighting gameplay problems noted by some early reviews seem all to be fixed, which is great!
Lots of visual glitches & smaöl bugs are still present though, I even had some softlocks, i.e. after I changed the equipment while standing in front of the bathhouse entrance.
my retro-fried brain first read GBC and i’ve got confused
good recc though!
Echt nais!
