I was born in a country once colonised by Spain. Everyone said Mexico would not survive as an independent state. And here we are, yma o hyd, 205 years after the independence was consummated. Not everything has been ideal, but we did survive as a nation and never looked back.
I think it's very honest of him to admit that he's one of the many Welsh people who don't speak the language. Not because of a lack of willpower, but a lack of opportunities stemming from historical & social conditions. His intention to learn and speak Welsh well enough to perform is commendable.
