It's an ongoing software project and with that comes change.
Products grow and evolve over time to cater for the ever changing landscape that is software development.
We've grown to match the needs of our customers over the last 10+ years, the features in the platform reflect those changes.
That's completely there for them to do.
It's also not a simple or basic product, it's a full API development platform.
That ranges from single users, who might have that simple use case, all the way through to multiple teams across orgs of 1000s of users, who have a much more complex usecases.

With the latest version you can connect a Workspace to your local filesystem and a git repo, it would be all local until you choose to push the changes.
We've also introduced a bunch of other changes in today's major release too. 🙏🏼

Postman Vault has been a feature for over a year now.

This is also a newly released Beta feature for working with local files:

We don't want you to send any sensitive data, that's why we recommend that those are placed in the locally encrypted Postman Vault.
Those can then be referenced in your Collections using the Vault variable syntax.
Also, all variables are local by default unless explicitly shared by the user. 🙏🏼
We also have a vscode extension, if you were using Postman previously, you can continue using the same Workspaces and Collections in your IDE:

That's cool, all the AI based features can also be disabled via the general settings.
Personally, I think you'd be missing out on some real productivity tools within the platform but it's completely your choice. 🙏🏼
