BBC Radio 4 - Illuminated, In Pieces In this sound-rich, tender meditation, Hana Walker Brown examines burnout.

Hana Walker-Brown stepped away from audio production for a spell - as you’ll hear - but she remains a proper documentary artist. Do listen to her β€˜Illuminated’ about burnout, produced with @reducedlistening.bsky.social @anishka.bksy.social @pezzatronic.bsky.social

Enjoying this very much. (I say "enjoy". "Appreciating" maybe more appropriate)

Indeed. You kinda want to go back to old mixes where you had to say: "that's the best we can do", and give them the benefit of the modern miracle-cure.

absolutely. I try NOT to use it on everything, but then I go "maybe I'll just give it a little". The Studio mode restores top end in a magical way

Not sure about that

Must be dead and have recorded at least a couple of interviews, preferably about themselves and not just their professional output

Not sure Lucan did any interviews we could harvest

Interesting comparison. My American inlaws introduced me to this Christmas tradition, so I have seen it.

Thank you!! That's what we aim for, sort of. Should be more coming in the new year.

Obviously I think it's award-worthy, and we have had some appreciation, but it doesn't hit home as BIG sound design, even though it uses every skill I have. It's a case of putting a lot of work into making something sound as if it just happened. his is why I know dialog editors will understand.

impressive

I co-produce a quirky show for BBC Radio which creates an imaginary dinner party with a living host and 5 dead guests, brought back with archive. It's basically a very tricky dialog edit, trying to make a load of clips sound like a real, flowing, conversation.
