We are new here.

And we're starting with news that the cfp deadline for our next conference is approaching fast!

We're meeting in Durham 8-10 July and welcome proposals from new and established historians.

There are details and links to submit abstracts here: socialhistory.org.uk/conference/s...

back to back tweets β€” the first is from known dipshit Matt Walsh, who said, β€œRemember when they spent years telling us to panic over the hole in the ozone layer and then suddenly just stopped talking about it and nobody ever mentioned the ozone layer.”

the second is from @DKThomp, who said, β€œWhat happened is scientists
discovered chlorofluorocarbons were bad for the ozone, countries believed them, the Montreal Protocol was signed, and CFC use fell by 99.7%, leading to the stabilization of the ozone layer, perhaps the greatest example of global cooperation in history.”

Lego duck. Slightly eccentric approach to crumble decorations in this house.

Every year I challenge myself to pick a tree (by eye) that is as close to my 8 foot ceiling as I can get it. This year's attempt is within 23mm. Sense of smug satisfaction: priceless. (Apologies for mixing imperial and metric. Child of the 70s. Can't help it)

OMG.
The lids from Pringles cartons fit the glass ramekins from Gu puddings.
Life.
Changed.

The last point nails it: a decade of Tory HE policy is hitting hard -- and there is no 'plan or strategy' relating to the actual strengths of UK academia, just pure market forces

I'm thinking we wouldn't notice until it got to a level where the surface had changed noticeably.

I thought the question was of disposing of it in favour of a non plastic version.

Cassie would certainly pretend to know! First thoughts are that if it's a form that is likely to be introducing microplastics into your diet (like food containers or water bottles) or into the environment (like a washing up bowl) then probably best to replace.
