Let’s fix King County roads and bridges damaged by the December floods.
Our proposal would temporarily redirect existing Real Estate Excise Tax (REET2) dollars to repair and restore safe access for our communities.
I’m looking forward to working with the County Council to move this forward.

This project came together through strong partnerships with local governments, businesses, Tribes, and the surrounding community. It’s a powerful example of what we can accomplish working together.

Salmon are essential to our ecosystem, our economy, and to Tribal nations whose cultures and treaty rights are deeply connected to healthy fish populations. When we restore habitat, we improve water quality, reduce flood risk, strengthen climate resilience, and protect biodiversity across our region

On this Day of Remembrance, we remember a shameful period in our nation's history — the internment of Japanese Americans, including many Washingtonians.
This history is chillingly familiar at a time when we see unmarked vehicles and masked agents picking people up off the streets...

Zahilay bans ICE from all nonpublic King County-owned spaces
The King County executive, in his first executive order, issued a suite of actions aimed at supporting the county's immigrant and refugee communities.
Today I signed my first Executive Order to better protect King County’s immigrant and refugee communities in the face of harmful and escalating federal immigration enforcement.
“Every step that we can take within the law, we will take those steps” Zahilay said.

King County argues Trump overreached on funding for housing, roads and health care - MyNorthwest.com
King County argues in court that Trump's funding conditions for housing and health care are illegal and unjust.
“The Trump administration is weaponizing federal funds to try to coerce cities and counties to compromise on their values,” Zahilay said. “Here in King County, we are not caving to President Trump’s bullying tactics and will continue to stand up to protect our people”
