Thank you to @soseaemerald.bsky.social, advocates, and fellow elected leaders for taking action on climate. King County remains committed to implementing the Strategic Climate Action Plan, cutting greenhouse gas emissions, and building resilient communities.

Let’s fix King County roads and bridges damaged by the December floods.

Our proposal would temporarily redirect existing Real Estate Excise Tax (REET2) dollars to repair and restore safe access for our communities.

I’m looking forward to working with the County Council to move this forward.

Thank you to our incredible King County staff for their heroic efforts during the historic flooding our region faced over the past couple months.

Yesterday, we brought many of them together at our Emergency Operations Center in Renton, where I delivered a proclamation honoring their service.

This project came together through strong partnerships with local governments, businesses, Tribes, and the surrounding community. It’s a powerful example of what we can accomplish working together.

Salmon are essential to our ecosystem, our economy, and to Tribal nations whose cultures and treaty rights are deeply connected to healthy fish populations. When we restore habitat, we improve water quality, reduce flood risk, strengthen climate resilience, and protect biodiversity across our region

Did you know King County works to restore the natural habitat of salmon? Yesterday I visited the hard working staff of Water and Land Resources Division to see Chinook Wind. What used to be a rundown hotel site is now transformed into natural habitat that will support salmon recovery for generations

On this Day of Remembrance, we remember a shameful period in our nation's history — the internment of Japanese Americans, including many Washingtonians.

This history is chillingly familiar at a time when we see unmarked vehicles and masked agents picking people up off the streets...

And soon they will be expanding this service to include more weekends and more hours so more people can get to work, to the hospital, to see friends, and more.

Thank you to all our King County staff for keeping our region moving and for welcoming my daughter, Captain Jazzy.

When you think of King County Metro, you probably think of buses 🚌. But did you know that Metro also has a Marine Division the operates water taxis 🛥️ ?

Our marine division teams help thousands of people get across the Puget Sound from downtown to West Seattle and Vashon Island and back.

Zahilay bans ICE from all nonpublic King County-owned spaces The King County executive, in his first executive order, issued a suite of actions aimed at supporting the county's immigrant and refugee communities.

Today I signed my first Executive Order to better protect King County’s immigrant and refugee communities in the face of harmful and escalating federal immigration enforcement.

“Every step that we can take within the law, we will take those steps” Zahilay said.
