Itβs been a blast working on this show promoting how we can has a safer, more fun Chicago with better street designs π thanks to @chi.streetsblog.org for covering it!
The effort to make Chicago a safer, more pleasant place to get around is no joking matter. "Safe Streets: The Comedy Show" creators discuss their goals.

Excited to work on this show. Thanks to @atalliance.bsky.social for covering it and participating as an interview guest!
I didn't know that -- but they should for sure!
Another thing is that every "incident" trains the cars. But they are literally doing research/beta testing on people who did not consent. We are putting out bodies on the line in a research project for their profits without a consent, IRB, compensation or anything.
The only data on them being safer is from Waymo itself. So no, there's no reason to believe they are safer.
Who do self-driving cars benefit? Do they create jobs? No. Are they safer? No. Do they contribute to the local economy? No. Are they cheaper? Do they directly transfer wealth to tech corporation billionaires in California? Yes.
Zohran just went out and fixed the Williamsburg Bridge bike entrance. Just did it. No faffing, no nonsense. Bam. Fixed.
In: Game-changing data tools. Out: Car crash violence.
Props to @mclean.bsky.social for his data magic. Look out 2026.
Just means we need to have a vocal, supportive majority πͺ

NITA Act officially signed! This provides us the landmark investmentΒ and reforms to build the transit system Illinoisans deserve!
βRight now, Chicago City Council is weighing drastic cuts to the very safety programs that have driven this unprecedented drop in severe injuries and fatalities on our streets β cuts that would mean more dangerous speeding, more violent crashes, and more families grieving loved ones taken too soon.
Ellen Steinke: "Chicagoβs capital plan would cut traffic-safety funding by nearly 70% as CPD lawsuit and CFD pension costs climb. Here's what we can do to stop that from happening."

After a driver killed Linda Mensch, left, in front of the conservatory, CDOT installed a raised crosswalk to help prevent future deaths. City is currently considering cutting Safe Streets funding by 70%. Here what we can do to stop that.

Why did so many Archer traffic safety project opponents show up for Monday's rally? One reason is this press release put out by pro-charter schools lobbyists Urban Center. Quoted in this anti-Ald. Ramirez statement is Claudia Zuno, shown, whom UC is reportedly backing for alder.

URGENT ACTION NEEDED:
Mayor Johnson's 2026 bond proposal defunds safe streets infrastructure by a whopping 70% β putting our communities in jeopardy by threatening the progress we've made in preventative infrastructure.
Email him and your alderperson today and tell them to reverse course!

As Illinois lawmakers debate whether driving fees to fund to fund world-class transit would be "regressive," a quote from ex-BogotΓ‘ mayor Enrique PeΓ±alosa comes to mind: βAn advanced city is not one where the poor own a car but one where the rich use transit.β

@chicagocta.bsky.social President Leerhsen far exceeded my expectations of what a transit leader and supporter can be. It was an honor β and blast β for her to join the show! Between her approach and the audienceβs enthusiasm I feel more hopeful than ever about the future of Chicagoland transit π π
CTA Acting President Nora Leerhsen discusses how Chicago transit is at a crossroads right now, during Second City's "Save Chicago Transit" (mostly) comedy show. It was created by SBC contributor Ellen Steinke (2FL).
