Cover of Leslie Bulion and Robert Meganck's new illustrated science poetry book: a black water buffalo with frogs on its head, an alligator, a snowy egret, an albatross standing on an ocean sunfish, and a mountain treeshrew sitting on a hanging pitcher plant all staring at readers, to announce book launch party!

Hello #birdoftheday peeps! For @robcrank68.bsky.social's themes #SideProfiles and the alternate #Robins I have a twofer, an early morning American robin crossing the dew-soaked grass.

A tiny ruby-throated hummingbird, its white throat, marked with faint dotted lines and reflecting the greenery below, hovers in mid-air, poised to take a sip from a "cigar plant's red tubular flower that is yellow at its small open end. The bird has an iridescent green back, and tail tipped with white. It's wings stretch up and back and a tiny white marking can be seen at the back margin of its one eye visible in profile.

Good morning, #birdoftheday folks. Here's a #sideview of a ruby-throated hummingbird enjoying a morning sip in my front garden last September. So many beautiful profiles today thanks to @robcrank68.bsky.social .

Thanks to @alan678.bsky.social for reminding me of this pop of #primarycolors on a frigate bird that landed on our ship's rail in the GalΓ‘pagos for #birdoftheday.
