They referred my husband to a drugs councilor. Not an ADHD specialist. A drugs councilor. They said it was because many people end up addicted to drugs while trying to self-medicate on an NHS waiting list.
That is so absolutely fucking warped I’ve never found the right words to express my disgust.
I cannot tell you enough how much I fucking *hate* the NHS “mental health team.” The cunts wrecked my life by denying I had bipolar disorder until I got seen privately near twenty years later. They messed with my husband in too many fucked up ways to name.
They have very real blood on their hands.
It is a sadistic trick that the NHS forces you to go private and then punishes you for it. Waiting lists of a *decade*? In no rational society is that acceptable, not least for an underdiagnosed condition.
But this is the model they trialed with gender care and got away with, so here we go.
