I’m Métis and used to live in the States, and I did some work with the Indian Land Capital Company many years ago which is how I got to know ILTF. I live in Winnipeg now and would love to see something like this in Canada, though I realize their are differences in the legal/structural contexts.
What I like about Indian Land Tenure Foundation is the focus on land with a range of options for both tribes and donors - specific place-based tribal projects; broader land issues (e.g. climate, land reclamation); and capacity-building (education, legal/treaty issues, estate planning).

When I was talking a lot about getting prepared for FEMA cuts and trade war, someone told me apologetically needed to mute me because it was stressful hearing about preparation they couldn't afford to do.
That's a huge stress right now for ALL of us, I think-- there is no getting fully prepared.
I have to confess, among all the outrages and crimes and hatefulness, I can’t get worked up about the whole absurd “Gulf of America” thing because actually it should be the Gulf of Turtle Island.

But even if a judge says “you can’t do that,” what would stop them from just ignoring that? They believe they have unlimited power. Guardrails only work when acknowledged as real. Putin does whatever he wants and imprisons or kills anyone who gets in his way, that’s Trump’s governing model, right?
