Yep, and like Shearer said they are so reliant on VAR that they just don't make the decisions and wait for the replay to do it for them. The onus still has to be on the officials to make a decision or there's no point in them being there except to check the nets and hold up the numbers board.
The bit from cricket that needs to be incorporated is umpire's call, so the on field decision stands off it's marginal and the official still has to make a call.
In cricket clipping the bails but umpires call stands if he's given not out. Should be the same with offsides which are just as "factual"

Shearer is spot on here. VAR has made officials much worse because they don't have to make decisions normally and when they do they panic and get it wrong.
The non-penalty handball is genuinely one of the worst decisions I've ever seen (linesman as well) but VAR would have bailed him out #nufc
