yep, rigging is one of the biggest hurdles. If you're not already doing it then I recommend keeping a document with a list of notes and useful shortcuts because it's hard to remember it all.
as a fellow newbie I'll say it can feel both easy and insurmountable because you have to learn so much just to do basic things, but once you learn you feel like a wizard. That said, your first project will have half your time spent searching tutorials to troubleshoot.
A digitally-drawn collage comic featuring Sammy, a Jersey Devil. First is a phone screen showing sporty tank top and shorts. Below it is text saying "Swim Shorts 2-Piece, Size XXL". Beneath that is an "Add to Cart" button. The next image is Sammy wearing the outfit, which is two small for her and takes on the shape of a bikini. She looks down disappointed, saying "Oh." In the final image she's looking at her phone screen and leaving a review. Her review says "Product was... I thought it, Um... I don't wanna be mean, but it was a little... uh... At least this one didn't show my butt." Beneath her review is a 4.5 out of 5 star rating. At the bottom is a reply from the seller asking "What?"

A digital drawing of Hedy striking a pose. She has more frog-like features such as larger hands and feet and dark spots on her body.
Here's a more frog/lizard-inspired Hedy design after several people were (understandably) confused about her originally being a shark.
I like how it turned out. Should I keep her this way? #art #oc #pinup #frog #anthro #scaley

In some communities this image is legally classified as assault.
You've been getting better and better at drawing her. I had a bit of a chuckle at your other post that showed the pose ref.
Vellum the paper girl doing the Nu Metal/Fred Durst pose She has her streetwear, a couple of arm sleeves, baggy pants with straps and a beanie The background has big letters that read "ROLLIN'", in reference to the song by Limp Bizkit called "Rollin' (Air Raid Vehicle)" from the Chocolate Starfish album

since another comment kinda spoils, I will say that you can try backtracking after you're done with the desert and you'll find an optional consolation prize, let's say.
Vellum's moving eyes are up and running.
I have one more upgrade planned for each model. This one's less essential but will make it easier for them to talk if I can get it working.
I think a common thread behind the current creator/fanbase discourse is art being treated solely as a product.
To toxic fans, harassing a creator for the way they write your fav is the same as criticizing a CEO who's trying to rewrite your laws and scam you.
First model upgrade is complete: moving eyes.
Yes, Lumelle's eyes couldn't actually move before now. I plan to add this to Vellum too but I need to use a different method for her 2D eyes.
I couldn't find a pic of it but her dressing up like an oni with tiger pelts and carrying a bit club would also fit her imo

this game had a long development cycle and you can see the developers improve as you progress through each area.
Some more Lumelle, though this is mostly poses used in her animation
Been a busy week, but I had time to take some reference screenshots for some potential commission shopping.
Still planning model upgrades and 2D art when I'm able
Hedy is (was?) a hammerhead shark, or so she says.
I've thought of changing her to a frog or a lizard but the idea never stuck.
do you have a demo reel or voice acting samples?
Had a very busy week last week that might be continuing into this week.
I've found ways to improve facial expressions on my blender models, and I want to nail these down before I look for VAs.
Thanks for the recommendations so far. The first roles I'll look for will likely be Vellum and Lumelle.
Ah yeah, I saw your demo reel a while ago and lost track of it. I like your stuff. I'll definitely keep you in mind if I end up needing a VA. I'm new to this so I'll probably have questions if/when the time comes.
he's there to be heard, not seen
retweeting your work can help if you aren't already doing that. Bksy doesn't suppress it from feeds like Twitter does. I've heard adding alt-text can make images easier to show up in search results, plus it's appreciated
I'll make a more detailed post on the voice actor thing at a later time if I end up needing it. I just figured I'd mention it now since I haven't had to find a voice actress to commission before and I'm not sure where to start.
I think I might hold off on my next model for a bit. In the meantime I have some other things planned:
- New 2D art
- Upgrading existing 3D models
- An animation feat. both Vellum and Lumelle
Might not happen, but does anyone know of VAs fine with doing spicy (SFW) stuff?
I should do these screencap preview/highlights for future animations going forward. It's fun picking out standalone images that are otherwise only seen for a moment.
These animations have been fun so far. While I still have a ways to go, I'm adding new tools to my toolbox with each one I make.
