Until I can get a handle on these things, I'm gonna try to mostly avoid this place other than to check on current events. But I'm still around and doing ok. Love you, especially if you made it through this whole thread.
Social media, especially Twitter-like sites, definitely seem to fuel a moral anxiety and internal shame that ultimately paralyze me. I need to do something about that. And there's the way it tempts me to do the leftier-than-thou thing, seeking approval for being the most leftist. Is bad.
I think I want to keep that up. I want to be on here less, and I want to cut way back on posting. And I want to stop engaging at all in the constant bad faith community infighting. That I did not miss. No arguing with bad-faith libs, either. We'll see if that sticks.
At the same time, as weeks went by, something held me back from returning fully. Last week I started checking the app to see if anything big had happened. But I resisted posting or even reskeeting, unless I thought it was important information or a fundraiser.
Even after that stopped, there were things about Bluesky I missed. There's a lot of good people on here. I missed the humor, the sense of community (even if it's not the highest quality), and the ability to air a thought and know someone would probably see it.
