Interior walls are designed in Inkscape and printed on cardstock, then laminated to the basswood structure. A very fast way to have a nice interior to glimpse though the windows

Imo it has always felt too nondescript and plain to me, vs how beautiful the sharper edges of the final design highlight the shape and make it "look fast"
I fear Budd made the better tube shaped high speed train first
My flaming hot take is most the Shinkansens look terrible except for the very first couple series and that overall the French and Chinese design significantly better styled high speed trains.

My personal opinion is that It isnt worth trying to reinvent the wheel and attempt 3D printed couplers (beyond niche things like Link and pin/milled hook). Kadee's work so damn well I'm happy to pay the premium for them and in all other scales the price is extremely reasonable honestly.
