Ces images montrent l'amélioration constante de l'image de la Lune dans le domaine observée par le télescope spatial Fermi. Chaque image, de 5 x 5 degrés, est centrée sur la Lune et montre des rayons gamma d'énergie supérieure à 31 millions d'électronvolts, soit des dizaines de millions de fois celle de la lumière visible. À ces énergies, la Lune est en réalité plus brillante que le Soleil. Cette séquence d'images montre comment une exposition plus longue, allant de 2 mois à 128 mois (10,7 ans), a amélioré la résolution de l'image.

La radiogalaxie géante « Inkathazo » récemment découverte. Les jets de plasma, observés par le télescope MeerKAT, sont représentés en rouge et jaune. La lumière des étoiles provenant d'autres galaxies environnantes est visible en arrière-plan.

Les radiogalaxies géantes sont des mastodontes qui projettent des jets de plasma, alimentés par un trou noir supermassif, sur des distances monstrueuses.

Le radiotélescope sud-africain MeerKAT, a permis d'identifier ce jet de plus de 3 MILIONS d'années-lumière !
