On Feb. 15, 1961, the entire U.S. figure skating team died in a plane crash in Belgium while traveling to the 1961 World Figuring Skating Championships in Prague. Out of the 72 passengers who died in the crash, 18 of them were skaters and 16 were ice skating coaches, judges and officials.
