Back in the 90s I was leaving a movie at the Landmark Sunset and there was Rob Reiner, talking to a bunch of people about the same movie. He was friendly, engaging and kind. I couldn't think of anything to chip in, but I was just happy to be in his orbit for a minute. What an incredible loss. RIP
I had never seen this before! Amazing.
I've adapted a lot of books, but this is the first time I've adapted my own. As always, it bears a strong resemblance to the book, but has become its own thing in the process.

Who knew Jaws wasn't Robert Shaw's first performance of "Spanish Ladies?"

In fact the only thing from TV that was remotely close to Jaws in terms of story-telling, pacing and cinematic quality back then would be DUEL.
I guess this opinion is ultimately complementary of the movie, but to say Jaws was a success because it was like television... really? It's genius big screen filmmaking on every level, from direction to screenplay to cinematography to the acting to the film score and the Oscar-winning editing.
One of the two Best Picture movies at the first Academy Awards had this great shot...

I recommend everyone go see Clown in a Cornfied. It was fun, Katie Douglas was fantastic as Quinn, Frendo’s a great addition to the horror movie villain pantheon, but really you should go see it so they make the sequels and give them a bigger budget.
