(this is Ireland so obviously there are a multitude of pubs in every town) but he was so good to us for those couple of years we were there (didn't charge for the space, always made us tea) that we wanted to give him a thank you gift, so we all chipped in to get this wooden plaque that says
We used to have our book club at a pub that closed a few months ago. And the bartender is now the manager of his own pub but he very apologetically told us there's no space for us (the old pub had a big back room we used but the new one doesn't). So now we meet at another pub down the street
