How many rakes does Starmer need to stand on before he goes.

Just got an email from Wowcher titled:
"NATO might be over πbut our New Year's deals aren't!"
I almost applaud the chutzpah.
GROTESQUE.
My least favourite part of the design process is the "make my stupid ideas work" stage.
βFriends, this is how democracy dies.β
As a designer, a thing that happens a lot when you present a variety of options for a project, is whoever you are presenting it to requests/suggests combining elements from different directions to create a new route. It's kind of frustrating, but also feels somewhat inevitable.
The neighborhood is getting ready for tomorrow
If Bluesky is an echo chamber so be it. Iβve tried dipping my toe into right wing news channels and left no more illuminated, and just more convinced of their fundamental unreason.
In Paris. Trying to order in French and the waiters immediately responding in English π
What happened in Germany nearly 100 years ago should have been sufficient warning. Maybe in time whatβs happening in the states will be another warning.
Hades is so good, though haven't played it for a while. Have to say, apart from the procedurally generated levels, the randomness of the boons is a massive factor in progression/winning (it is mostly about the grind though).
Gritting my teeth somewhat as I prepare to read a new round of amends on what should have been such a simple project. Oh well, on holiday tomorrow!
Just had an email suggesting dates for a 'personal' departmental weekend get-together at some point this Summer.
That'll be a no from me, dog.
It's really remarkable how many marketing bods are not at all good at communicating.
Is there a long German word for βtrying to appear busy at work when you donβt really have much to doβ because it not I feel there should be one.
An art director I once worked worked for confided in me once that she thought a big part of being a 'good' designer wasn't technical skills, or even ideas necessarily, so much as 'taste', and I think about that often.
At work. Gone for a walk at lunchtime in the glorious sun and fantasising about just carrying on walking until I eventually hit a beer garden.
One of the things about being 'a designer' is constantly being asked to do things that you instinctively know won't work β but being obliged to go on some kind of journey to demonstrate this.
At Adobe Max London⦠big AI focus (naturally) but very inspirational!
So great to see Flow on the big screen this evening! What a mesmerising film.
I loved them so much as a kid. Still do!
Spotted the first queen wasp of the year *shudders*
Guess I won't be checking my savings for a while.
Something that I find quite infuriating (though I'm not sure is unique to our current social media hellscape) is the tendency for people to think that something that runs contrary to something they dislike, is therefore truthful or good.
βCan we just tryβ¦β must be one of the most familiar phrases in the design briefing lexicon, along with βmake the logo biggerβ of course.
Got an Uber to work today rather than driving and the driver was playing some mellow jazz⦠so much more relaxing a start than the Radio 4 roundup of current affairs insanity.
Noticed yesterday that the question keystroke on Zapf Dingbats is a crucifix so that's food for thought isn't it.
Unlike that famously un-corrupt country Russia right.
Meeting three of Monday, letβs go!!!!!
A promotional still of David Suchet as Agatha Christie's Poirot, with (I think) an anti-aircraft gun peeking over his shoulder.
My favourite episode is the one where Poirot gets a shoulder-mounted cannon.
