@lowcarbonproject
We started a Youtube channel back in 2022 and our first project is a self build Hempcrete house, in the UK. This house is proof that we can build better homes! (Matt is not involved with running this account!) www.youtube.com/@thelowcarbonproject

A few years ago, Matt started self-building an eco house made from hempcrete, entirely by hand.
Since the last update, a lot has changed. Plans shifted, the build slowed⦠and he had a baby! Here's a little video on how it's all going.

Lets help fix the plastic catastrophe, the world is facing.
These guys have been trying for the past 10 years and have managed to create a global community of recyclers, makers and inventors... All for free!
Now they need a bit of help to grow even bigger
Please share π³π

This popped up on youtube after posting that. Switch up your search engine and help fix the planet π Over 87K trees π³ planted here because people are using ecosia instead of Google

We recommend using Ecosia for your default search engine, they plant trees for every search you do!!!
There are also alternative browsers such as Brave and Opera if you want to de-google yourself

π¨ Precious plastic update!! π¨
Plastic is still a problem in the world and these awesome humans have spent the last decade trying to fix it.
Help with their next phase of development.
Even a repost will help to spread the word π³ππ

Thanks π I thought it was easily available in the US considering how the rules have been relaxed over the past few years.
We will definitely be posting more, the build has progressed a lot but I have moved to Spain this year. I will be returning to record updates + some bonus episodes in Octoberπ»
Did it π₯³ Thanks to anyone that's following our channel and watching our videos

Thereβs renewable energy ads and thereβs mother**cking wind farm ads. This, blissfully, is the latter.
In the β80s, it became obvious that Earthβs ozone layer was thinningβcaused by chemicals in old spray cans and AC units.
But some on the far right denied it was real.
The world acted anyway. We banned the chemicals. It worked.

The organisations and people receiving letters from UKLFI should take a leaf out of @dalevince.com book and just tell them to "fuck off" rather than pandering to their BS threats.

It's not necessarily the architects fault. Most likely the council and planning officers. Source - girlfriend is an architect and has to deal with their ridiculous requirements all the time
Looks like they're just recycling US bull shit headlines, they can't even be bothered to make up their own shite any more.

Yeah but imagine if only a small portion of the "1.5 million homes" promised in the UK were built with it.
Doing all of those the normal way would have 50 Million tons of emissions associated with it, using hempcrete could make that net zero. Also possible to build up to 12 stories (so far)
Ahh noooo, however will people cope? "Muuurrgghh, I don't like change"
And this doesn't include the CO2 locked up in the timber used either
Seems like a big fat waste of time and money when there are already far better solutions for carbon capture in buildings.
This π is for 1 house!
A little short showing the evolution of the Hemp house garden. Using some permaculture techniques Mat has managed to build a little micro farm outside his kitchen.

Well that's obviously fake, how did he write that? He doesn't even have opposable thumbs! π (Disclaimer... I have never seen Bluey and for all I know does actually have them)
Sounds like a hemp house would be perfect for that. It's pretty hot in UK at the moment and Matts place is staying nice and cool without aircon.
Thanks to everyone who has watched our videos π» π π₯³

A hempcrete house needs a breathable exterior to protect it from the elements. We used a lime render which absorbs 50% of it's CO2 emissions (to make) as it cures.

lowersioux.com is an amazing Native American community in southern Minnesota. I was really impressed by their hempcrete factory which uses industrial hemp to make homes. They showed me the whole process. Minnesota Innovation. Very Cool.
