I would argue even though Blair and Brown improved things for people in 2000s they did not change underlying neoliberal economic policy, which is partly the bad consequences of the crash (private sector over indebtedness) and how it was handled (austerity).
Given the @greenparty.org.uk 's recent by-election win and polling I think they should have had a Green on rather than Sultana, even if she is on the left.

Sorry, I should have said in addition, even say bond markets don't like a gov investing for future or think it's excessive — gov should still do it if worth it for future. There might be short term pain— but BoE can help— but long term consequences of missing investment will be worse.

When it comes to complexity I would ask whose complexity? There are a plethora of definitions people use from Kolgomorov complexity to Shannon entropy. I think the one that most chimes with more/different than sum of parts is predictive information (Nemenman, Bialek & Tishby)
I think "more than sum of parts" simply comes from a pop-sci caricature of emergence. It's usually taken to mean it's not simple to predict properties of collection of entities interacting from their individual behaviour—whether emergent behaviour is simple or complicated imo isn't relevant.
