I have a new (very) short story out at Lost Balloon! Itβs about a monster who lives in a womanβs pocket and quotes Alexander Pope to her. My son informed me that Iβve written a PokΓ©mon storyβI never realized PokΓ©mon was for pocket-monster!

Cinderella's Stepsister Speaks of Love In the night, in whispers, my mother told me that love was not always the most important thing. But when I was young, I didn't believe her. I was angry all the time. It was like waking too early from a nap and snapping at everyone. My mother told me to gather my clothes and I turned to my new sister, younger and amiable, and said, "You do it." But eventually the world showed itself in all its limitations. When the opportunity presented itself-the sharp knife and the shoe and the chance at the unrelenting freedom that wealth could grantβI looked at my foot and it looked grotesque to me. The heel unnecessary. The smallest toe, too.
