Grădina Olari, Bucharest 🇷🇴 1st visit. Another courtyard bar which is such a feature of this city. Inside is pretty good too, with exposed brick and beams, tasteful lighting. Nice service. Guitars and board games. Carol craft beer. In summer this will come into its own 👍🍻

Likewise! These days my London visits are brief, a few weekends a year meeting my sister and a few hours returning from Stansted or whatever. Chipping away though.

Fair play that's a great voyage. Will be interesting what you unearth in Bialystok too.

Great, that'll be an interesting time of year to visit. I can't promise a full sweep of the craft beer venues but with 4 days there I'll give it a good crack of the whip

Lokal, Bucharest 🇷🇴 1st visit. Fantastic. This is ultimately why I go around Europe, for fun bars you can't find at home. So typical of Romania and a supreme example. Courtyard terrace, alternative slanted interior with a network of common rooms. Flötzinger Märzen ain't bad either. A must 🍻👍👍

Pardon Pub, Bucharest 🇷🇴 1st visit. In some ways nice, but...the photos are probably too complimentary. 2 room bar and it is pretty pubby for local standards. A nice selection overall too. But really inane puerile meme signage and tacky high tables lets it down a bit. Pub cat. Metzler Dunkel 🍫 🍻

Ironic Taproom, Bucharest 🇷🇴 1st visit. Post-modern taproom. Industrial aesthetics fading to a kind of Scandi "over it" vibe. Beers prices by the 100ml from boards labelled Departures and Arrivals. Nice mural. Sour beer specialists. Very tasty! 🍒

Zâganu, Bucharest 🇷🇴 1st visit. A little bit of a tired taproom, very mid-2010s, bar area not that pleasant. Service friendly though and brewery is from the early days of the Romanian craft beer scene. Some are deceptively pleasant like their Hefeweizen/Weizenbock hybrid. Bubblegum/banana 🍌🍻👍

Caru' cu bere, Bucharest 🇷🇴 1st visit. Spectacular 19th century beer hall. Among Europe's finest. Neo-gothic interior, cathedral-like. House beer from Ursus, Pilsner Urquell on draft. While an eatery, it's fairly relaxed & communal. Once seated you can continue drinks after a meal👍🍻

Teoria, Bucharest 🇷🇴 1st visit. Final stop tonight. Cocktail bar in yet another old mansion house. Trailing neons, side rooms, niches. Cocktails on a theme after my own heart: legendary closed bars of Bucharest. Eye For A Pint is a superb concoction! Fair prices, Bee Gees best of 🎶 🍸👍

Niște Domni și Fiii, Bucharest 🇷🇴 1st visit. Very cool eclectic bar in the old town of all places. Pub cats, train set and interesting music. Two levels. Drinks basic but some quasi-craft. Really an alternative scene place. Best one of the day so far 👍🍻

CIZ, Bucharest 🇷🇴 1st visit. Backstreets of the Jewish Quarter. Lovely courtyard which will be great in summer, typically homely interior with vintage furnishings. Romanian wines & teas. Food served but not mandatory. 🍷👍

Hop Hooligans Taproom, Bucharest 🇷🇴 1st visit. Typical converted mansion house space with modern fit c.2020. 20+ taps of this brewery's wares. US punk rock soundtrack. A few customers knocking around already. All couples (us included). Crowd Control IPA & 3's A Crowd Black IPA🍻

Ground Zero Taproom, Bucharest 🇷🇴 1st visit. Modern taproom. Striking ceiling feature livens up an otherwise template space. 6 core taps, 4 Deranj taps and several specials. Heavy rock soundtrack. Empty on this sunny Sunday, staff twiddling their thumbs 🍻

Trei Beťivi, Bucharest 🇷🇴 1st visit. Bar that's also a record store and merch for rock & metal with a decent fridge for Romanian craft. Terrace is smokey, bar room is not. Friendly with board games, chat at the bar and very scrupulously fair prices, 11 lei for draft Ciuc to 20ish for craft 🍻👍

Boogie Bar, Bucharest 🇷🇴 1st visit. Now, here we go! Walk here was v quiet so expected the worst. No need to worry! Vibrant, buzzing courtyard and apartment bar. Must be especially good in summer. First Romanian bar I've noticed different generations hanging out together too. Crap name tho 👍🍻

15A, Bucharest 🇷🇴 1st visit. One of those converted apartment bars Romania is quite good at. This one is low key, downtempo and friendly. Vintage furnishings and tapestries work well. Food was good but no obligation to eat, it's casual. 👍🍷

Frank, Bucharest 🇷🇴 1st visit. Other than arriving about 5 hours too early (chose to break up a walk) a lovely bar.

It's a 50 bani coin to enter (?) then the noise from the street dissipates.

Suave deco style interior, vintage furniture, candlelight. Cocktails & natural wines for good prices🍻👍

Beer O' Clock, Bucharest 🇷🇴 1st visit. After sightseeing it really is beer o clock ⌚ 🍺 Old town beer specialists with 8 taps of Romanian craft. Open plan interior with Belgian café influence. Big fridge selection too. Prices 25-35 lei for a pint 👍🍻

PMUs are a mixed bag. A lot of them push the definition of a pub/bar to breaking point. More like betting shops with a few seats and a beer tap.
