My leg, in black leggings, curled up on the couch, with two small dogs and a cat curled in it
Anyway this is how I'm spending Friday night
Sorry #sapphiclineshare but I gotta do a cheeky two-fer again today. There's a whole line of self-care vs work ethic stuff happening in A Prayer for the Pirate Queen π΄ββ οΈπβοΈ (currently in third draft revisions)
She raised her hand from Geniβs arm to brush up her neck to her face. Geni shivered, and leaned into Kallistaβs hand. She glanced over shyly, a little embarrassed that such simple touches made her want to melt. But Kallista was gazing at her with something like wonder in her eyes. It was highly complimentary.

Late today π₯±
This lady here decided to fuck with Ru'ul, one of the biggest badasses in Atalantis. She's finding out that was a mistake π

You are definitely an inspiration β€οΈπ
That's exactly it!!!
Spencer, Wren, and Bruce give their pursuers the slip.
From book 1 of my romantic fantasy series about a priest of the dead and a thief with a heart of gold.

I've definitely hit a few walls just in the short time since Bludeye Beach has been released, and it's such a different beast to navigate in pre- vs post- publishing. It should be as simple as "it's fine, just go for it!" - but it's really not for me π . But everyone's experience is going to vary.
Happy #pretendpanel!
It feels bad, man π
I have a weird relationship with marketing in particular. I love talking about my writing, and I actually have a lot of fun making little graphics or videos. So like. The combination feels like it should. Work??
But in practice...I hate it π +
I have a deep abiding love of tragedy as a genre. As a result I lean towards stories, and therefore endings, that focus on loss. Sometimes itβs in the sense of overcoming that loss and moving forward; other times, itβs succumbing to that loss. Other stories explore the space between those extremes.
ππ it's already a beefy book!!
Teddy is all for being supportive, but he knows the real stakes of this situation π
The internalized hater must be killed.
For me, it was that there is no floor: doesn't matter how much you sand it down, someone will demand you sand it down more, until you are silent.
And do we choose those who hate us over those who we could serve by writing the thing as-much-itself as we can?
Charlie. I don't like this ππ
(Complimentary xD I'm just too invested in your characters)
No, but they did have some choreography π

I had a lot of fun making the messed up text for the Old Books in the Tenement. Can you still read them? π
From #Tenement, my dystopian mystery about people living in an infinite building.
This is so sweet and cute and I absolutely love how you're bending light and color β€οΈβ€οΈβ€οΈβ€οΈ GORGEOUS
Happy #WIPSnips 5 - Destroy > Ruin
Teddy, unfortunately, cannot improve this situation π₯²
This was also an early chance for Edie to bond with her estranged father by snarking back at Betty π
The scenes were fun, but a lot of Teddy's community theater were just wholly cut for length (RIP jurassic park the musical). Betty unfortunately didn't make much sense without them π€·ββοΈ
Happy #AwesomeCharacters!
In BLUDEYE BEACH, there was a minor subplot where Edie's father Teddy had a rival at his community theater, Betty Bliss. She was a one-time actress on Broadway and her snarky confidence was a fun foil for Teddy's reserve nature.
Imagine this: you, curled up in your favorite reading nook, following along as a pair of morally questionable but very attractive protagonists investigate an occult conspiracy involving an eldritch god.

Dang, tough one today! Going with vibes.
I actually thought about doing these little "numen eyes" for #Marchistics π
From #Charagma, my SFF Calvinist dystopia where all people are marked saved or damned from birth.
"Trying to hornily kill each other" took me out ππ
I'm not going to judge.
I am however going to question
The only rule of MMM is making sure you're having fun, even if the story is more serious π full disclosure, mine is turning out a lot darker than usual for me, too! But I think it's good for me to spend time writing in that space (even if Mann Pulsing just has a drive by cameo at the end lmao)

If you read my Febchantment blahblahs, where I talked about "purity of motive" as an empowerment factor for swashbucklers, here is an example of it for today's #WIPSnips.
