A search of Bluesky has revealed a handful of messages about it, by no more. I hope part of the process includes asking if there was sufficient response from teachers and parents to make draw valid judgements or if it is all just from bodies who will have limited direct contact with the outcomes.

I found out about the review two days after it closed. Over the last week I've asked and yet failed to find any colleague in my school who knew about it, let alone who responded. Most of us are parents as well as teachers and so tick two boxes.

Decisions on changes to the assessment of mathematics, physics and combined science GCSEs in 2025, 2026 and 2027
Not a surprise, but important to have it confirmed: the outcome of Ofqual's consultation is that students WILL receive equation sheets in GCSE Maths and Physics for the next 3 years, just like the last 3 years. 2025 ones to be published in Dec, but they'll be identical to the 2024 ones.

It's really nice to see the influx happening. I'd given up with Twitter so it's nice to have a community come together here. 😊

Example of some search terms
Here's an example of how easy a search-based list can be. This is for the "UKTeaching 🎓" list, which currently has 395 members but is now updating automatically every hour.

Bluesky (TEMPLATE)
Finding it harder than it should be to manage #Bluesky followers and lists? Here's my simple yet quite useful (??) alternative using just a #GoogleSheet!
See who you aren't yet following back.
Set search terms for list membership and then have the list membership update automatically, on a timer.

The UK Teaching 🎓 feed (bsky.app/profile/stub...) is for all things educational in the UK, showing the last 7 days of #uked, #ukteaching and #ukteachers posts.
There's a UK Teaching 🎓 list (bsky.app/profile/stub...), too. Add yourself to that and you can post to the feed using just 🎓.

Just deactivated my X/Twitter account. Not used it in months, but was holding on to it just in case. However, the vast influx of teachers this week now makes that unnecessary. 😊 #cleanbreak

The Art of Questioning
Questioning is an element of great teaching that offers pedagogical benefits, for both teachers and students.
In honour of re-sharing old blogs - The Art of Questioning
Great teachers use questioning for two key purposes:
1) To promote thinking; and
2) To assess thinking.

Hi. It's the post that is pinned to the top of the feed that explains what the feed is and how to use it. It's optional.

A huge number of teachers have arrived here this week (hello!), all celebrating a jump from Twitter. I've been off Twitter for a while and so am not in touch...did something happen last week to cause everyone to move, or is it just the middle of the holiday? 😂

Automate guardian invitations | The Efficient Teacher
Use Google Apps Script to save hours by automating guardian invitations in Google Classroom instead of manually inviting them one at a time.
Teachers...do you use #GoogleApps, and #GoogleClassroom in particular? Did you know you can automate a whole load of time-consuming tasks using #GoogleAppsScript?
Today's example: send out guardian invitations to a whole year group in minutes.

Bsky lists...can be curated manually (Lists>Add new), BUT can also be created from search rules using Skyfeed.app (Lists>Create), which is so powerful! It searches profile descriptions, making it so important to cram these with relevant keywords and tags if you want to be found.

In an Input > Tags block. You don't need the #. You can include multiple tags, just separate them with commas. If it isn't working as expected, look at where this block is in the list ...if it isn't at the very top, you'll be filtering the output of a previous block.

You can use other people's lists, too, not just ones you've created yourself. If you find a list you like, click on its 3-dots menu and "copy link to list" (you'll need to share to email and then harvest if using the app), then paste it into the "List URI" box instead of clicking on "Your lists".

The "list" input to the feed: You can create a list of Bluesky users manually in the bsky app (Lists > Add New) or using search rules in the skyfeed app (which still needs to manually refreshed periodically to update the resulting list 😥). The "list input" then restricts to just these users' posts.

3) Give your feed a sensible name and then click "Publish Feed". This prompts you to write a blurb to explain to other users what your feed is.
4) If you think others might like your custom feed, post about it to let others know it exists! 😊

Screenshot of Feed Builder blocks for "UK Teaching" custom feed.
2) In Skyfeed, click on the "Fed Builder" (spanner icon). Use the "Add Block" button repeated to create a sequence of rules that will define your list. This is fairly intuitive, but you might need to play with the options. Here are the blocks for the "UK Teaching 🎓" feed.
