While perturbing the C. glabrata mannan cell wall layer seemed slightly host-protective in oral epithelial infection models, it led to much worse outcomes systemically.

I'm so proud of Gabriela Ribeiro's paper from her PhD work. Big thanks to our amazing KCL colleagues, Emily and Jon. Together we showed how the N. glabratus/C. glabrata cell wall can alter host outcomes in diverse infection models.
