I wrote this piece with all my feelings about a messy Brown woman finding her place in a world that is cruel to us, no matter how beautiful it may look on the surface.

As someone still recovering from a 7+ year writing slump, getting to write "THE END" during one of the busiest and exhausting periods of my life was a big deal, and giving myself a chance was proof that somewhere in me, there still lives a writer, no matter how much I feel otherwise sometimes.
