Clothes Tomorrow Cats scare me, which seems sensible. I never want to fold clothes. My back aches after all this rehab. Mints in my pocket ease the quease. I will regret getting up either way.

I hope you are feeling better soon. I am also on back recovery journey and it is rough going. Sending you all the healing thoughts!
@deemclachlan.bsky.social thank you for reposting!
Vollmann is kind of a hard read. And WFG is kind of like reading a fever dream, but for some reason -- it sticks with me!
Thank you for reposting, @edwardstjames.bsky.social!
ALSO. My other comment to you reminded me this phrase appears on the first page:
"When they collected a sample of urine, it melted the plastic cup. That, it is safe to say, is despair. More obscure still, because fictitious, is the following. All of the whore's tales herein, however, are real."
I love that phrase and re-use it often. I'm just copying from writers who use versions of the concept that I also love like Morrison and Wideman and Baldwin. π And yes, that unreliable narrator and audience are both in play. Ha.
Thank you, John! I kept thinking about the character Code Six from Vollmann's Whores for Gloria when I saw the theme. And then I couldn't get those conflicting ideas out of my head about watching out and not being safe and looking for safety. Thank you!!
Thank you for these lovely words. And thank you for reposting!!

Ha! I came here to say that!!
Yes! The looking out and in is so powerful here!
Always powerful and layered!
Wonderful! This reminds me of a prompt that neonpajamas.substack.com/p/030-poem-p... posted awhile back. Lovely.
The line 'will they go boo' does so much work right there at the end of this frantic sense and sound piece. I love it.
I also came here to say the 1984 reference!!!!
This is great. I love it!
The movement vs the isolation/solitude is fantastic!
