I hope that helps. Archie stayed on Newspaper print longer than other is down to money as they much smaller company in comics unlike DC or Marvel who could make that jump a lot faster.

Why it’s printed the way it is, no idea. But knowing some comic history: Newsprint paper was typically used for comics until the ’90s, when a lot of companies switched to modern/glossy print. Comics cost less to produce on newsprint stock too. Archie Comics was one of the last to make that jump.
