In fragrance the word linear seems to be considered a perjorative (e.g. "Linear and lacking in complexity") but in teaching not so much. I remember an advisor at Cal describing someone's lectures as "perhaps less linear than most" to rather diplomatically hint that the lectures were a chaotic mess!
Unfortunately I'm not sure...it doesn't smell much like musk to me but I am pretty new to fragrance and am not sure I'm aware of all the ways that note can present itself

this is precisely the issue. in the 2024 campaign, DEI meant aggressive policing of pronouns, land acknowledgements, trans sports, etc. It's now being used to mean basically everything under the heading of anti-discrimination and civil rights going back to late 1950s.
