I appreciate it! It’s such a mess that the legal IEP criteria for autism doesn’t match medical diagnostic criteria. Thankfully we were mostly trying to future-proof in case of a teacher who’d think he was being disobedient when he missed hints, struggled with ambiguity, or got anxious or pedantic. ❤️

Thanks! My older one has a 504 for ADHD; we may need to consider if it’s an option for the younger one later- but right now he’s in a class with teachers who know what’s up (bunch of gifted, neurodivergent kids in that cohort) and there’s not much I can ask for that they’re not routinely doing.❤️

(I am more privileged than many, in that the diagnosis actually did NOT help with the IEP because he doesn’t show educational impairments and doesn’t meet other thresholds. Thankfully the teachers are informally supporting and accommodating him. But, I hate all the extra anxiety from RFK bullshit.)

Seriously, we went though a long assessment process a few years ago to get my kid a diagnosis, thinking to leverage it for IEP accommodations-and if I had to start over today, I would hesitate. Solely because of RFK wanting to put him on a registry and a government that thinks he’s a plague-bearer.

Thinking again about how the names Arctic and Antarctica just means "bears" and "no bears." So as an Antarctic expert I need to add to this that we had not in fact been to Antarctica when it was named. The ancient Greeks decided that because there was an Arctic at the top of the world, with bears, there had to be an opposite at the other end, without bears. Those books are SO bonkers, and utterly hilarious! I stumbled across the first one when Kindle Unlimited suggested it to me, while I was in the airport before a trans-Atlantic flight. And I got so sucked in that I tore through the next several books on that trip, every time I was on a bus or train.

(I requested a refund during the window in which refunds were open, I had until Feb 7, 2025 and I sent mine in on Jan 30 of that year. They never sent a message to me about my request back then and they never sent my money.)

Did anyone who pledged for the Good Omens graphic novel kickstarter actually get their money refunded when they asked?

I have tried contacting them multiple times,with no reply, and the first reply I get is asking for my address so they can charge me MORE to ship an order I tried to cancel.
