"When people like Kamala Harris send our sons and daughters, our young people, to fight in stupid wars, it is the young generation that carries the burden of that. We're gonna stop sending our young people to far away lands. We are not the policemen of the world."

Littleproud resigns. Never has a man achieved so little so often apart from his one true accomplishment - exhibiting the ultimate nominative determinism.

Figurines of Brady Bunch and Partridge Family fighting each other

I have created a diorama of the Partridge family attacking the Brady Bunch family. My life is very boring.

The American president is more insulated from accountability than a British royal.

Our political system provides the elite with immunity. It has to change.

And if he is dead, shouldn’t the past tense β€˜slept’ be used?

Should I make my own concrete slippers? Save Mob Boss the trouble with this plague of peasants.

Also festival/conference programs - if I get a hardcopy, I usually take a photo and give it back. Magnifying the image is often better than a mobile version of the program. Plus it’s waste saving.

What do you use your phone’s camera for? Text recognition and QR codes have opened up so many new uses.

Used as a make up mirror regularly.
Also:
Documenting whiteboards
Reminders for events (usually posters)
Directions for people visiting me (eg. Ring buzzer here, up these stairs, look out for this guardcat)
Reminder of carpark spot
Tracking growth of skin cancers (hopefully just moles).

Angus Taylor's entire strategy appears to be looking over at Pauline Hanson and saying 'I'll have what she's having'.

Did you see scientists crossed DNA of a cheetah with a crab? It went sideways real fast.

Three thoughts from ACMI's Future of the Arts, Culture and Technology symposium 2026 The mostly official site of George Dunford where he talks about travel, technology, creative industries, digital, books, arts and other guff.

Really enjoyed #FACT2026 and wrote up three notes on it here. Thanks again @acmimuseum.bsky.social and @sebchan.bsky.social for organising. www.georgedunford.com/2026/02/thre...

Been thinking about how we used to buy software in boxes. You owned it. Installed it once. It worked offline. No subscription, no data harvesting, no mysterious updates that changed everything overnight. That wasn't primitive technology β€” that was a different relationship with our tools.

QUT revives axed journal Meanjin. Its former editor says she and its advisory board weren't consulted Since Meanjin's closure, multiple foundations, university figures and organisations approached MUP to explore ways to save the journals, but these attempts were all rebuffed.

Meanjin's former editor says that she and the journal's prior cultural and advisory literary board were not notified of QUT's acquiring the publication before the announcement today. buff.ly/Wg0cI9c

Love β€˜moral documents’ and hope we can have moral (and morale!) conversations about the budgets and $$.

11.02.2026 22:49 πŸ‘ 1 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 0 πŸ“Œ 0

Yes and we have so many examples of poor partnerships where cultural organisations give away their value for $$$. How do we not compromise who we are as organisations when working with others? Mining money is Australia is a good example.

11.02.2026 22:47 πŸ‘ 1 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 0 πŸ“Œ 1

Does it depend on where you are in the hierarchy? For a lot of arts workers in orgs they feel like they are reactive to budgets but harder to get proactive about chasing new funding, especially if you’re not involved. The best leaders I’ve had encouraged their teams to understand and work with $$.
