Gotta say, editing a 2-hour, 8 person, PvP battle and making it entertaining as a podcast will be one of my crowning achievements as an editor if I successfully pull this off.

On Today's "Editing Magic"
I am editing a script where one of the lead actors didn't send me their lines, and hasn't replied to emails/messages in the last month.
... And I am going to steal from every other episode we've recorded to form the sentences I need for Tuesday's release.
This is true and I was the only one on set excited about it (and playing the song on my phone to blank stares)
I know some people are going to hate the stuff I make. They're not going to get my inside jokes, or a messy story, they'll hate the inclusion of diverse collaborators, they'll 1-star bomb us on apple or imdb before an episode even drops.
But I'm not making stories for those folks.

This is what I live for. So my mission of "Create & Survive" feels super basic, but it's the motivating pull behind many of my decisions.
...except in influencing the creativity.
I can't compromise 'Create' or it stops being fun, and the long hours will lead to burnout.
Working with cool people?
Super fun! I originally thought of this as marketing, but most of the time - to quote Jurassic Park - "nobody cares" - except me, so I choose to work with people who I'm excited by. I enjoy editing some voices a lot, and have favorite indie artists.
Being featured?
I enjoy knowing that people like our stuff but as stated in the original thread, 9/10 times being "showcased" or included in a starter pack was direct work a creator put in and it doesn't personally motivate me. It's marketing.
Beyond the goal of "survive" my mission gets quite nebulous.
Awards?
I think it's an important way of thanking my collaborators or marketing but it's not personally important at this point in my career
Thinking about goals/missions:
Mine is to keep the creative stuff I do as my career.
Yesterday/today I worked from 10:00-16:00, 22:00-5:00, 10:00-Now+.
This is me "on holiday."
Is this unreasonable? Yeah.
Does this need to happen to keep my career alive? Absolutely.
Do I enjoy it? Mostly
Get this, I took an entire day off yesterday. Not even an email or text for work… First day off to this extent, probably the entire year?
Being a full time creative looks a bit weird, when family points this stuff out.
