Our 2026 @NCISH_UK report was published last week. It presents new figures on suicide by mental health patients and identifies key risks that should be the target of prevention.

During the report period 2013-23, there were 1700 suicides per year nationally by people under current or recent MH care. We @ncish.bsky.social examined their risks & stresses & clinical care. This video summarises the findings.

-Employment and economic support, alcohol/substance use and treatment access may be targets for prevention and research.

-There is generally a lack of high-quality evidence describing the characteristics of ethnic minority suicides, especially for social factors.
-High rates of mental health problems were reported across all ethnic groups.
